Demi Lovato Relapse Denial

Image from Oh No They Didn't

A week ago Blind Gossip published a solved item announcing that Demi Lovato had relapsed and was backin rehab for substance abuse. Demi's reps then desperately attempted damage control and spoke out saying this was not true. Like a Lady posted an entry here  guessing Demi Lovato before the identity was revealed, and then again once the item became solved in this post. Now it's only days later and Blind Gossip has posted another "blind" item addressing Demi on their website:
Broken Girl Is Back In Rehab
Following a serious relapse last week, this award-winning performer was secretly admitted to a well-known reh*b facility.
When word of her condition got out, her team – apparently caring more about PR than her recovery – pulled her out of the first facility, issued a denial that she was in rehab, waited a couple of hours, then put her into another facility. And that was just the beginning of their PR games.
They tried to knock the rehab story out of the headlines by planting a story about a breakup, but media outlets continued to carry the reh*b story. They promised a staged photo op to prove that she was fine, but failed to deliver her because the reh*b facility wouldn’t let her leave in the middle of detox. They said that she was just hanging out at home, but when friends stopped by to see her, they were told that she had suddenly gone to visit a relative on the other side of the country. They tried to fake her participation in a live online interview, but fans cried foul when they noticed that dormant Twitter accounts were being used for the questions and that the answers sounded canned and phony.
Sadly, these PR lies are just a continuation of a year of lies about her living a healthy, sober life following her last rehab. In reality, she is an out-of-control party monster. And, we are sad to report, her problems are even worse this time around: alcohol, self-harming, and lots of dr*gs, including c*caine and her*in.
There are lots of lies because there’s lots of money and projects and products and endorsements and magazine covers at stake. If the fans aren’t properly fooled into thinking she is a sweet, healthy girl, nobody gets paid! So they keep pretending that everything is fine (it’s not), that she is healthy (she’s not), and that they are so proud of her sobriety (Shut up, Mom). They need to keep her fans believing all of these lies order to keep the money rolling in.
Although we do know her new location, we will not disclose it. We want her to stay in rehab. Yes, even though her fans want to believe that nothing is wrong, she is definitely back in rehab. And anything you hear to the contrary is a crock of sh*t.

It seems Demi needs a new support team. Although she can get new friends and agents, the most detrimental people in her life seem to be her own family[read: mother]. This is such a shame but luckily she is an adult herself now and hopefully will see this for herself.

Product Review: Crackle Nailpolish

I finally tried the “crackle” nail polish. Not a fan. Just looks like a badly smudged manicure.

Birch Box Review

A few months ago I decided to sign up for Birch Box. Simply put, by subscribing to its services, Birch Box will charge $10 a month and send you "personalized" boxes of product samples. I participated three months before unsubscribing. After that, I didn't find the program worth it to continue. I only used three of the samples that I received, and they are the size of the free samples you get with your purchase at Sephora.

I really do like the Spackle bronze tinted primer by Laura Geller. It helps even out the color on my face when I'm using my self-tanner.

The other two products shown are glorified chapsticks:

The Jouer lip enhancer is pretty nice. It leaves a dull numbing sensation while it plumps your lips. I like the product but I rarely use it since the entire container is smaller than my pinky finger.

The Be Fine lip serum has honestly only been used because it's wintertime and this was the first in reach.

Overall, I think the idea of having a Birch Box subscription is great. It introduces you to products you probably would have never tried, or even heard of. I recommend it to those who have the extra $10 to spare each month. If you're a modest college student like myself, don't bother. It will add up quicker than you think.

Have you tried Birch Box yet? If so, what did you think? Discuss it in the comments below.

Staying On Track

As the month of January comes to an end, I have to remind myself that New Year's Resolutions are still in play. Even if you have already messed up a day or two since you made them, it's never too late to get back in the game. You just have to remind yourself of your goals and why they mean so much to you.

One of my favorite things to do for motivation is....shopping! Shocker, right?? I like to use the excuse of rewards and need for inspiration. The most recent example of this is workout clothes. What is better motivation to get your lazy self up and start moving than a brand new outfit?
I'm not dedicated enough to break the bank on new matching Lulu Lemon suits. However, I always manage to find a good deal at Target. Lately I've been in love with "yoga shorts". If you haven't seen them yet, they look just how they sound. Yoga pants that have been cut short. Really short. I've seen several versions at Target and Victoria's Secret.

In the picture I am wearing a pair of black yoga shorts with a lime green band around the waist. The bright punch of neon green matches perfectly with the polyester/spandex shirt (which is REALLY fitted). I like how these shorts are a bit longer and provide more coverage. Be careful if you plan to get some yourself, unless that bootylicious look is what you're into...then by all means, buy in every color.

UPDATE: Demi Lovato Relapse

Image from Allie Is Wired

Blind Gossip has updated their article on Demi Lovato with the following statement:

UPDATE: Demi Lovato’s PR team has asked BG to let its readers know that, as of today, 1/25/2012, Demi Lovato is not a resident at an in-patient treatment center. They will not confirm her sobriety and will not be releasing any statements about her sobriety or her personal health. Demi will be publicly seen and photographed out in Los Angeles later today when she goes to a medical appointment.

There seems to be some denial amongst the Lovatics that this is not true.

It would be very nice if it weren't but sadly, addiction is a very real battle and extremely difficult to overcome. Demi is not a superhuman, nor do I expect her to be. Many recovering addicts do relapse in the process. It's also crucial that they actually want to change. I don't believe that Demi does. Afterall, she is only 19 and is definitely not surrounding herself with the best influences. I would respect her if she took the time to really get help for herself. I would even be fine with her continuing her addiction and issues, although they are dangerous and could ultimately lead to her demise. Atleast that would be entirely her decision and her being able to live her life. What I don't approve of is how she is acting all holier-than-thou in every article, interview, and appearance. You have millions of young fans that look up to you. Don't be a hypocrite. Be honest. If you're struggling, that's fine. We all do at some point. If you admit this, no one will turn their back on you. If they do, then you didn't need them in the first place.

Image fromOh No They Didn't

I know this for sure, her appearance is a dead give away that she has relapsed (despite the 1,000 other clues like how she could never sleep, she was always out partying, oh and being best friends with drug users).  SOBER people do not go out in public and think this looks ok. Sorry I'm not sorry.

I guess now we'll have to wait and see how the story continues to develop...

Fashion Inspiration: Rachel Bilson

The first time I saw Rachel Bilson she was playing Summer on the O.C. It was one of the earlier episodes where she was playing a ditzy high school girl who had too much to drink at a party. Eventually her character developed more depth, once Summer started dating nerdy-cute Seth Cohen. Summer and Seth were THE love story to tune into each week, back when Chuck and Blair were nothing more than two acquaintances in the pages of the Gossip Girl series. The fact that Rachel was dating her co-star Adam Brody in real life only added to the fairy tale.

Fast-forward several years later and I still idolize Rachel Bilson. Although she has had other acting projects since The O.C. went off air, including the lead role on CW's current show Hart of Dixie, she has been made more famous by her unique sense of style. Super petite Bilson has been featured in many magazines including the indie fashion Nylon at least twice. She has also done a collaboration with DKNY and worked as a columnist for InStyle. She is over 30 years old today but looks as youthful as ever.

"I feel like you have to be who you are and be true to yourself first, always. You can't worry about how your're going to be perceived by other people. I have a quote that my mom taught me: 'It's none of my business what other people think of me.'"-Rachel Bilson

Breaking News: Demi Lovato Returns to Rehab

image from Hollywoodlife.com

Blind Gossip has been solved!

"BlindGossip.com: Demi Lovato has just been admitted to Passages, an in-patient addiction treatment center located in Malibu, California. While her medical records can not be shared by the treatment center, we have learned from close friends that Demi is being treated for alcohol addiction and addiction to drugs, most notably cocaine. Demi is expected to remain a resident of the facility for several weeks, after which time she will transition to out-patient treatment.

Demi Lovato, a beautiful and talented signer and actress, has been living a double life. She was promoting “Sober is Sexy” during the day… and drinking and drugging every night.

We know that Demi and her friends reads BlindGossip every day, so when we heard that she was slipping back into destructive habits, we felt it was our responsibility to address her directly. Several of her friends told us that Demi did, in fact, read the blind, and was very upset by it. She was especially furious that we were “dragging her little sister into this”. Fortunately, several of her friends looked past her anger, recognized that there really was a problem, and decided to pass the blind along to her family and management team. Within 24 hours, they intervened, and Demi is now in rehab.

We are very, very happy that Demi is now getting the help she needs. Whether or not our blind item provided the catalyst to push her toward treatment is inconsequential. The most important thing is that she get well and have the opportunity to lead a happy and successful life. Demi, we wish you nothing but the best."

Want to Lose Weight?

Rachel Bilson burning cals

If one of your 2012 resolutions was to lose a few pounds, check out the Calorie Maintenance Calculator (click here) at LoserTown. It allows you to plug in your own height and weight, along with the amount of calories you plan to eat and burn each day. Then you are given a personalized chart predicting your weight loss schedule. I like experimenting with different amounts to see what plan would work best for me. I try not to set the bar too high so that I don't drop out immediately. It's been longer than I should publicly admit since I've put effort into working out and eating healthy. Eesh! I find the Calorie Chart from LoserTown a nice reference to make sure I'm still on track to my goal each week.

Blind Gossip

It's not so much a secret that I love the website, Blind Gossip. The point of the website is to post rumors about celebrities but not say their name. Instead clues are given, and when the news officially breaks, the blind items are confirmed. I know it's not good to gossip, but the guessing game becomes addicting quick! Besides, sometimes you just need to divert your attention from the stresses of reality and indulge in something completely mindless!

Today the host of the website posted a rather straight-forward entry, talking directly to the star. It stood out to me because I have been awaiting the day the news would break. A few days ago, E! posted a similar blind item referring to "Strawberry Snort'Em". My belief is that this is Demi Lovato. Her issues are some that I feel passionate about, having dealt with some of the same self-esteem struggles myself, and witnessing loved ones ongoing battles with addiction. It's a tough road and I hope she can be honest and get the help she needs.

But who knows, I could be completely off. Read it yourself and let me know in the comments your guess.

As posted by Blind Gossip
"She’s off her meds, and it’s not good. She has returned to the very behavior that got her into so much trouble in the first place, including the dr*gs and the alcohol and the self-harming.
It’s almost surreal to hear her spout absolute bullsh*t about being healthy and happy and sober when she is exactly the opposite. In fact, just a week ago she was out at some madhouse of a bar, dr*nk off her ass, doing multiple shots and snorting c*ke in the bathroom.
Let’s cut to the chase, and get more direct: Look, we know that you and your friends are reading this. It is absolute madness for you to think that this will end well. You are a beautiful and talented girl, but you ARE going to lose your fans and your career and probably your life if you keep this up.
Remember how upset one of your siblings was when someone picked on them? Do you realize how much more emotionally destroyed they would be if you actually died? You should think about that, because that is exactly where you are heading right now. We don’t care if you lie to people about what your problems are. We don’t care if you pretend that you are going on vacation. Just get yourself back into rehab (or treatment, if it makes you feel better to call it that), and get well. Now."

The Impact of Words on a Woman's Body

Image via Beauty Riot

Leann Rimes was recently quoted discussing the impact others' words can have on a woman's body:
“Imagine – your dad, who you idolize, walks into your bathroom one morning. You’re in the 11th grade. He lovingly asks you, ‘When are you going to take care of yourself and lose some weight?’ He doesn’t mean anything by it other than, ‘I love you and want to see you happy and healthy.’ But he didn’t exactly say that. In your young mind, he said what all of the other girls in school say to a beautiful, normal girl—’You’re fat.
I could tell you a similar story, in one way or another, about each and every one of my girlfriends. And I bet a lot of you can too. We could probably say the same story about girls we’ve never even met. Would you then think before you spoke? We are all made with the design for our bodies to change in many different ways as our lives unfold.
Our bodies change in various ways with exercise, healthy eating, poor eating habits, having children, and difficult life changes. Some people have higher metabolisms, lower metabolisms, some build muscle faster. There are so many variations and things to consider when you look at a person’s body. There’s a whole history and story behind who they are.
We’ve never walked in each other’s shoes, but we are always so quick to comment and give an opinion on things as if we have the right to. What no woman or man needs is anyone telling them they are ‘too fat’ or ‘too skinny.’ That just adds to the many stereotypes out there about a person’s weight.
I don’t deny that there are people around the world with real problems such as bulimia, anorexia, or binge eating. But I’m talking about our obsession as a society with body image and how it’s started to control and tear our lives apart.”

Latest Obsession: Loafers

Latest Obsession: Loafers

When I was a toddler I wore a pair of Bass penny loafers to match my father. I grew out of them and never expected to slide another pair of loafers on my feet again. Fast forward to Summer 2011 when I fell in love with the Tory Burch Kendrick Driver. I immediately added them to my ever-growing wishlist. After several months of lusting after the pebbled leather shoes, I was given the black pair for my birthday! They are even more beautiful in person than the website. Not to mention they fit perfectly with my recent, more mature style. I wish I owned every color TB makes.
However, my next splurge will be on the Tod's version. Tod's makes such a variety of colors and styles that it's hard to decide.
Check out designer's takes on the classic look below. Which pair do you like best? Do you own any loafers, or plan to?

The Pursuit of Perfection

Image via Tumblr
If only. I struggle with the organization of my closet SO much. Seriously, it is a project that I attempt to tackle, every day of the past three years. Although it has been clean for a few weeks time (really, that little.) since I’ve started college, it is never what I imagine it could be. I’ve drawn the conclusion that my closet, is just entirely too small. Nevermind the fact that I am a slight shopaholic. That has nothing to do with this. I mean, I clean out the excess every couple of months! Several large black trashbags full! Even if the tags are still on the items…ah, I cringe. There’s a reason I had to have extra walk-in closets built in my highschool bedroom, for a total of three. Those were the days, eh? Besides the whole curfew thing, atleast. Whatever, shopping makes me happy. The searching for that perfect item; the rushing of adrenaline in the body as the cashier rings up each purchase. It’s a high, and I’m addicted. but like Sheryl says, if it makes you happy then it can’t be that bad. It doesn’t matter the destruction done on my bank account (right?), because if it makes me a better person, it’s totes justified.
